Offered here is a coverless, but otherwise complete, original, unrestored copy of Batman #1 from Spring, 1940. This is one of the top books in the hobby. Since the book is coverless, if sent to CGC, it would receive a grade of “NG”, so I thought it best to leave the book “raw” so that it can be flipped through, read, and enjoyed. I 100% guarantee that this is an original, authentic Batman #1, free of any restoration. Based on sending in books like this myself to CGC, I would estimate that they would call this one off-white to white for the page quality. Unlike most coverless copies that you see, this one is very supple and can easily be flipped through (and even read) without fear of causing splitting or damage. There are some defects that are worth noting: two 1” or so holes in the first page (see pics) near the top, likely from a bug chew, affecting part of a story panel on the back side of page and part of the “N” of “Batman” on the front side, and two smaller holes lower right of first page (see pic). Approximately 15 (of 32) pages have random 1/2″ to 3/4″ pieces torn off either the top or bottom right (margin only) corners; not sure what caused this, but it’s definitely not due to brittleness, and it only affects the margins. Centerfold is tight and securely attached at both staples. Some soiling to the first page and light wear to the outer wrap, but the rest of the book is quite nice.
