The candy is long gone. But, amazingly, the comic books survived. This gentleman passed the books on to us. So you have the opportunity to become only the third owner of some vary rare pieces of Americana! These books were carefully preserved during the past EIGHTY years. The cover on this copy of Detective 49 is clean, smooth and still retains some original gloss. No creases, rips or tears. A bit of foxing, however. Page quality is very nice. Book is very supple. Most of the books had spine issues, as does this one. The spine is weak but attached to the book with both staples. This book would look great slabbed, although you may prefer to read it carefully… BECAUSE it is, simply, a scarce book. Dated March, 1941, which means it actually hit the newsstands boy I would love to travel back to time to one of them! Around Christmas of 1940.
