Chamber of Chills #25 (Harvey 1954) Pre-Code Horror Lee Elias PCH Golden Age Key. Classic Golden Age / Pre-Code Horror cover from Lee Elias. Chamber of Chills #25, from 1954 (volume two of this title). Book presents very, very well – nearly 70 years old. Not a pro grader – and this one, in particular, is a tough one for me to give a grade to. See pics / below for condition details. Book is complete, no cutouts, no missing pages, no signs of resto, no tape… Front cover: pretty clean, a light horizontal fold at the top edge, a few ticks, a few small edge creases, some waviness here and there… There are two long horizontal printer creases – one through “Chills”, the other above his hand (look like tears but aren’t)…. Spine has a a few small tears, a rough spot, and a tiny spot or two of paper loss…. Cover is intact, but pulling away from book (can see the tear lines around each staple). Back cover has a gnarly 5 tear – runs from the edge towards the spine (see pic), some heavy creases. A few more printer creases. Another 1 tear in the coupon area, and several edge bends / tears along the three edges. (many tears at printer creases-in one pic the circled area is a crease not torn-the tear is just at the end). Staining at bottom edge… Upper right corner shows some folding as well. Inside looks great – nice colors, pages tight, clean. Book presents very nicely… Pressing the front – if able – would make it show even better. The back tear is obviously the bigtime flaw – but does lay nicely / would look pretty clean in a slab. Only around 30 graded copies of this book.
