Detective Comics # 46 Dec 1940 Batman CGC 6.5 Golden Age & One of the Best Cover
Such an amazing cover and story that debut in December 1940 which shows Batman upfront and personal with a villain. Also this issue saw the death of Hugo Strange. Pure eye candy and the centerpiece of one’s collection. See the pics – they pics don’t lie… Should have been graded higher and I mean it. Look at that cover: its centered, vibrant color and really nice corners! This issue 46 was graded by CGC and the serial number is # 0299937008. Just has amazing eye appeal! Last 3 pics is of my comics and is only meant to compliment the issue 46 graded 6.5, in celebrating Batman and “Detective Comics”. Below is the CGC population report for this comic. That’s another thing, how can these beautiful Golden Age comics like this one that has less than 60 graded issues (47 unrestored) in their population fetch the prices they currently do and then you have comics like Hulk 181 and Walking Dead which have so many. Hulk 181 has literally 8980 graded copies and Walking Dead #1 has 2606 graded copies. Heck, Amazing Fantasy # 15 has 2622 graded copies. Again, this issue 46 has only 47 unrestored graded copies by CGC. Only 9 graded higher? 9 issues out there in higher grade? So where is the real value? Anyways, here is that and below it is the population report (as of 24 Dec 2016). “Death” of Hugo Strange. Bill Finger & Jerry Siegel stories, Kane, Robinson, Sherman, Grothkopf,, Hasen and Lehti art, Bob Kane cover.
